Dog training in the heart of the Valais
Positive, patient and respectful methods to build a relationship of trust between you and your dog, in Sion and across the Valais.

While I complete my certification, I already offer educational walks: your dog learns as we walk, calmly and in good spirits.
I walk your dog during the day alongside my own balanced, well-socialised dog. Through mimicry, and thanks to the same training I gave my own dog, yours picks up good behaviour. On hot summer days, a refreshing dip in a river or a bisse (a traditional Valais water channel), never the Rhône. (Dog must be non-reactive to other dogs.)
We explore the town: your dog gets used to traffic, noise and bustle. Towards the end of the walk, where possible, we help them settle during a coffee stop, and we try stepping into a few shops (this depends a great deal on the dog). All these varied settings enrich their socialisation.
We walk together, you and your dog, me and mine, to work on everyday obedience: recall, the sit, walking to heel and more. Very often the problem isn’t obedience but communication: your dog wants to obey you, they simply don’t understand what you’re asking of them.
For reactive dogs, I walk the dog on their own, choosing a quiet route away from triggers. The dog stays on the lead and we work, at their own pace, on reducing their reactions. (Progress varies from one dog to the next.)
Good to know: for any walk, the owner provides third-party liability insurance for their dog. Dogs sharing a walk must be non-reactive towards other dogs; a first meeting lets me assess each dog.
The school will then offer a full range of courses:
My commitment: the compulsory courses (BPC) are free for any dog adopted from a recognised shelter, in support of those who give a dog a second chance.
At CaniValais, we work with positive reinforcement. No force, no coercive equipment: we reward good behaviour and teach your dog to make the right choices for themselves.
I’m English, and I run sessions in English or French, whichever you prefer. Your dog couldn’t care less which language you use to help them make sense of the world: mine, for what it’s worth, responds to commands in English, French and Spanish.
The Valais is our playground. From the banks of the Rhône to mountain trails, we build balanced dogs, able to follow you anywhere, in town or out in nature.
Our approach combines the rigour of a professional school with the warmth of close, personal support.
“My dog barked at everything that went past and had already bitten other dogs: fear ran the show. Through patient, structured work, he finally passes other dogs calmly and our walks are peaceful. A change I thought was impossible.”
“I’ve trusted CaniValais with my dogs for years. Always sound advice, a genuine ear, and results that last. I wouldn’t trust anyone else.”
Tell us about your dog and your goals. We’ll suggest the option best suited to the two of you.
